1000mAh is one of the highest amperage's that you will find in NiCD AA batteries. Buying a higher amperage will not guarantee that your Solar Light will last longer. The solar charger is only capable of charging the batteries so much in the hours of visible sun. The solar panel on unit are only really suited to charge the batteries or similar batteries that came with the unit.
